A routine cleaning and checkup does more than polish your teeth — it's the appointment most likely to catch a problem while it's still small and inexpensive to treat. A dental hygienist removes plaque and tartar buildup that brushing alone can't reach, especially along and below the gumline. The dentist's exam that follows checks for cavities, gum disease, and early signs of issues like enamel wear or oral cancer.
Bitewing X-rays catch cavities forming between teeth long before they'd be visible or symptomatic. Twice-yearly visits are recommended because tartar begins reforming within months of a cleaning, even with good home care.
The consequences of skipped cleanings compound slowly, which is part of why the damage often isn't noticed until it's already progressed. A cleaning today is a fraction of the cost and discomfort of periodontal treatment down the line.
Gum health is checked at every visit, not just when symptoms show up.
Bitewing imaging catches between-teeth decay invisible to a visual exam alone.
A visual and physical screening for early signs of oral cancer is part of every standard exam.
Extra cavity protection is available in the same appointment when recommended.
Whatever the specifics of your case, the specialist you reach through us has handled it before.
